Haar.

Star the husky sitting by a stream of water at a foggy beach.

It’s foggy!

Exactly how Star remembered it. Her ball must be here somewhere.

Eerie. The perfect moody landscape to begin this month of Halloween. The haar is a cold fog which forms over The Minch when the air is warmer than the sea. It’s a phenomenon that commonly occurs where Star lives. When it rolls into the shores, shrouding them, it dramatically transforms the atmosphere into something spooky yet majestic.

Star’s ball was on this beach, just obfuscated by the fog. She was sure of it.

Let the search begin!

The path of the search.

Her search along the beach was quite circuitous. Did she find it?

Star is not an easy Husky to bamboozle. The haar was no match for her wits. Or her nose. Of course, she found it!

Hello, ball!

It was hiding in a hole in the sand but Star dug it out. She mist it very much.

Have you ever noticed how shiny Star’s name tag is? It’s tungsten carbide, but more on that another time. There’s still more of the coast to explore! Just as soon as the fog clears! 🧭
